As we (mostly Calgarians) patiently await the arrival of 2017 (ignoring the fact that more than half the world are well into the new year), it seems like a good time to take stock of the year rolling away.
2016 was challenging in more ways than one and the fact that I am still standing (or lying down as the case may be) is testament to the mercies of God and the love and support of my friends and family.
This post isn’t one to go over all the horrors of 2016 but one to appreciate the few goods that were thrown in. I learnt to search deeper this year (than I have ever had to) for that which makes me happy and to focus on that through the challenging times. Below are all I have to be thankful for.
I missed more than 6 weeks of watching my beautiful daughter grow cos I was stuck in the hospital. What that meant was that I loved her extra hard the remaining 46 weeks! My hubby has been the greatest blessing of my life and I wouldn’t be here without him. I appreciate the friends that showed us time and time again that they loved and showed their support in so many different ways. I had mothers (mine and hubby’s) give up 1 year between them to come stay with us to help out with cooking, taking care of lil miss T and taking care of me on the many ‘not so great days’ that this year was fraught with. I really couldn’t appreciate them enough. I appreciate my cousins who made a couple of trips even when they weren’t the most convenient. I appreciate all our friends who came to visit severally whilst I was on admission at the hospital. I appreciate all the calls and messages from friends and family who wish they could be here but can’t be for one reason or the other. I appreciate each and every one of you for the prayers, love and support.
I look forward to a 2017 that is filled with way less medical drama. I pray the treatment I’m on continues to keep things stable. I pray for many happy memories with my daughter, hubby and each one of my loved ones. Above all, I pray to be here for many many many many years to come!
To all my friends and family, thanks for being one of the greatest blessings of my life. I pray 2017 brings you a lot of dreams come true, many happy moments with the people you love and above all, a year filled with good health and love – I believe those are the two most important things.
Let’s all raise our glass to a smashing 2017!!!!!!!!!
